UKGlobal, our Fleet Insurer is Highly Rated…..!!

The old saying, “you only know how good any insurance company are when you make a claim” certainly rings true.

I couldn’t fault the FF Class insurers UK Global in their work in assisting me in helping to resolve my claim against the other insurance company. Both Dan and Jerry in the office were tremendous, and went truly beyond the call of duty in their efforts to resolve the claim.

Has Your Boat Insurance Expired …??!!!

(If it has, I don’t want to race against you!!… Ed)

UPDATE FROM UKGLOBAL: According to our latest records there are still over 50 members who have not yet renewed their craft policy.

If this applies to you, then please note that your craft is currently uninsured.

It is important to note that If you are waiting until your first sailing event before you renew your policy then should your craft be damaged by fire or it causes damage to another craft or other Third Party property during a storm in the meantime for example then you will not be indemnified for the repairs or replacement as there is no policy in force.

Please do not rely on insuring your craft on this policy just for racing. We have seen many claims over the years that have nothing to do with racing (including a number of storm damage claims during the recent adverse weather conditions in February.)

I strongly recommend you contact Natalie or Jerry to renew your policy and ensure you are fully protected:

· Natalie Surridge on 01883 333 522 / natalie.surridge@ukglobalgroup.co.uk; or
· Jerry Dungate on 01883 333 512 / jerry.dungate@ukglobalgroup.co.uk;

Thanks
Dan

UKGLOBAL National Rankings – Round 11

ukglobal_logoGoacher and Evans close gap on Lovering at the top of the UKGlobal NRL after the Scottish Championship (Round 11)
Round 11 saw 22 Flying 15’s travel up to Holy Loch Sailing Club for the Scottish Championship. Whilst only two races were sailed the event was extremely close.
Steve Goacher’s victory saw him begin to close the gap on Lovering & Alvarado at the top of the UKGlobal National Ranking List, with Wells slipping to third. The only other changes were GBR 2921 and Bobby Salmond moving up to third in the Silver and Classic fleets respectively.
Up to this point this season we have seen 145 different boats compete from 40 separate sailing/ yacht clubs. This only serves to the prove Flying 15’s rep reputation for top level competition combined with easy road trailing and simple launching procedures making the events extremely popular with every standard of sailor.

UKGLOBAL National Rankings Update – Round 8

Round 8 Update…Llangorse Classics, Silvers and the Waples Wines NTS

Round 8 saw 34 teams compete at Llangorse and Bassenthwaite, taking the total number of teams so far this year up to 103.

It was a weekend dominated predominantly by the Silvers and Classic fleets. In the Silver fleet Peter Card’s victory at Llangorse takes him top of the Silver league, and 16th overall. Alex Tatlow slipped to second, but rises to 20th in the overall classification, with Dave Travis who came second at the event, moving into third position.

There was also much change in the Classic fleet, with David Morgan, Johnny Craddock and Colin Fletcher all moving into podium positions. Their results from Llangorse also move them up 25th, 28th, and 32nd respecitively.

At the Waples Wines Northern Traveller Series Dave & Sally McKee took the win, with John Hardisty who came third currently leading that series.

The next event on the circuit is Hayling Island and the Bulwark Trophy as everyone looks to prepare for the Nationals at Weymouth in mid July.

BIFFA Insurance Update…..!!

ukglobal_logoHave you wondered how our new Insurance Scheme is getting on??  I did, so I got an update from Dan Blake at UKGlobal.

The answer basically is “stormingly well”.  Before UKGlobal worked with Chris Waples to redesign the policy there were around 260 boats on the policy with about half of them being Association Members.  We are ‘in season’ now for insurance renewals (not everybody closes their year in February) and applications are still coming in.  There were 25 new owners on the policy by the end of February and there is a feeling that the total number may go above 300 – even 320 has been talked about. Pretty good, eh?  I must say I am extremely pleased with my new premium….

So what does this mean for our Association membership?  Well, for the last seven or eight years we have generally eroded away our membership at a rate of 20 a year. Hopefully when the books close we may not only see that we held the number for the year, but there may even be a growth of another 20 or so on top.  We’ll see…!!

UKGlobal Sponsors National Ranking League….!!

UKGlobal National Ranking League

We are pleased to announce UKGlobal as our title sponsor for the National Ranking League.

Based on results over the past 6 years, I have simulated who would have been the Number 1 ranked boat each year based on the new National Ranking. As you can see it is by no means a foregone conclusion and anyone really can take the honours.

Greg Wells thinks that ‘the ranking system is an excellent initiative which will create much interest. Virtually all sports have world ranking lists and it is a great opportunity for the International Flying Fifteen class to lead the way for the non-Olympic classes’.

Class President, Jeremy Davy, believes that ‘the beauty of having those distinct categories is that it provides a sub-plot where older FFs can race each other on a level (and affordable) playing field… and the racing is just as serious as in the Open Fleet!’

The question is can any of these helms ‘retain’ their title? Simon Kneller, the current National Championship and who would have come second last year has taken an early stranglehold as we move on to the second event of the season. The next events come in quick succession with Datchet this weekend, closely followed by Bewl, Burnham and Grafham.

There is all to play but who is your money on to become the top seed in the 2013 UKGlobal National League?

It’s Here!!!.. – The New FF Insurance Scheme from BIFFA…..!!!

UKGLOBAL PRIMARY LOGO

Improvements to the Flying 15 insurance scheme

Following a detailed review of the British Isles Flying 15 Association insurance scheme, a number of significant new improvements to both premiums and cover have been made for 2013/14.

The scheme will continue to be run by UKGlobal (formerly COBRA Corporate Solutions Ltd and JK Lee), which has provided insurance for BIFFA Members for over 20 years.

The superior package for the 2013/14 year features a number of enhancements, including:

  • Reduced premiums at all levels
  • Dramatically reduced rates for higher value boats
  • Minimum premium for lower value craft reduced from £145 to £70*
  • Option to increase excess to reduce premium
  • Reduced costs for legal expenses cover
  • Multi-craft discount of 10%
  • Option to protect No Claims Discount after 3 years without a claim
  • Ability to insure non-Flying 15 craft

(*for Flying 15 craft with value under £1,000 and with 3 years No Claims Discount.  Excludes Insurance Premium Tax of 6%)

Alongside these improvements, the policy continues to offer Members, as standard, a number of important benefits over the levels of cover normally available.  An example of this is the valuable new-for-old cover on sails, covers, masts, spars and rigging which many other policies do not include.  Unlike many other policies there is also no Hitchlock and Clamping Condition.

An additional benefit of supporting the arrangement with UKGlobal is that it also provides income for the Association, which helps fund the activities for Members.  The more Members that use the Scheme the more the Association receives.

This improved scheme represents a key benefit of Membership of the British Isles Flying 15 Association.  Full details and a personal quote can be obtained by contacting Jerry Dungate at UKGlobal on 01883 333 512 or jerry.dungate@ukglobalgroup.co.uk
