Waples Wines Northern Travellers Update after 3 Events…!!

Series update at the half way stage after 3 events.

Waples Wines F15 GBR4033-4On completion of the Series Open at Rutland last weekend the Waples Wines sponsored series has now reached its half way stage. Each of the Series opens held so far at Royal Windermere, Ogston and Rutland have proven to be enjoyable and competitive, encompassing close racing with an outstanding social side that has become a feature of this series.

To date there have been 28 eligible boats that have sailed at least one event. The stars of the series so far are Mike Moore/Kayla Sheard of Bassenthwaite and Rob Goodison/ Jonathan Mallory from Scarborough who have each sailed in all three events. 12 clubs have sent boats to the series events so far and 5 teams have completed the 2 events necessary to qualify.

The shape of the series is now starting to clear with Jon/ Julia Ward from Ogston counting a 1st and 2nd leading overall from Richard Hope/Mike Stenson of Draycote Water in second place with a 2nd and 3rd to count. Richard is a previous winner of the series and will be pushing hard to get his hands back on the trophy. We are however only at the half way stage and all is still to play for . Surprisingly after earlier years in which the Classics and Silvers outnumbered the Open boats , this year we have had only one silver entry and no classics at all. Prizes are available for these two sections, and there is plenty of time to mount a campaign.
