Flying 15 UK Ranking: Round 3 – Consistent Apthorp extends lead at top
Apthorp remains the Number 1 seed in the 2014 National Ranking after three events as he took his third successive victory of the season to increase his lead at the top. Datchet’s Helen Selden has taken the top spot in the competitive Crews National Ranking.
There were only 4 points separating the top 4 teams after the five races, but Apthorp’s 3 bullets was enough to give him the title. It was a stark contrast to the conditions experienced at Bewl last year, which was reflected by the big turnout, seeing 24 teams, including 13 visitors.
So far we have seen 35 helms and 38 crews already compete this season, which is a positive sign as we shape up for what is set to be a great Nationals at Parkstone in July.
The next event is the first of the ’Waples Wines Northern Travelers’ at Royal Windermere at the end of the month. With 3 events in May, at Chew, Llangorse and the 60th Anniversary of the Bulwark (Hayling Island) (also the Southerns) all can change at the top of the rankings.
