Those of us who turned up at the Datchet club on Sunday had an extended coffee after deciding it was too windy to launch without damaging boats.
This gave Patrick Keates the chance to tell us that the applications are open for the FF Nationals which are at Parkstone from 5th to 8th July (Details on the Parkstone YC at http://www.parkstoneyachtclub.com/page1539.html)
It sounds like a great event – they have already secured enough sponsorship to fund a couple of meals, a hog roast and some beer after racing. They are keen for people to sign up early as this will help them get some more sponsorship. Visitors are also welcome to join in the Friday evening harbour race on 4th July ahead of the first official race of the Nationals on the Saturday
FYI, I noticed while on the BIFFA fixtures page that the qualifying events for the 2015 Worlds (in France) have been marked – and the Nationals is one of the qualifiers
So get applying!
Back to sailing next week, flood water permitting…..
