With regard to the recent item on the Y&Y Keelboat Review, Malcolm Hall wrote into the Blog with this:-
It is an interesting thought, we have a K1 race here at our club, on the beats it goes well but on a run it clearly lacks the advantage of a kite. I cannot think that I have seen it really planing like a FF either. Which makes me think that if you want to sail single handed then just sail a FF by yourself. I sail with my children as crew and often they just dont want to go out so I go out by myself. I have developed a pretty good single hander technique and in anything but the strongest wind I can fly the kite as well.
Its a fun challenge to sail like this and tactically you have to think a little different as your reaction time is of course a bit slower coming into the marks but very possible to do.
