Ovi on Ovi – Flying Fifteen Mainsheet Bridle…

Another intriguing idea on the Ovington finished Flying Fifteen at the Boatshow was an adjustable mainsheet bridle. Did you see it?…

You see that the bottom ends of the bridle disappear below deck and re-emerge in the cockpit as control lines. So you can adjust the mainsheet bridle while hanging out – and doing your email on your iPhone??!!… I assume they transit the tanks through sealed tubes.  Very neat and very clever, but I’m not sure quite how many times you would use it….

I’m reminded that when I was a kid there was a Fireball World Champion named John Caig, or something like that. His boat was famously simple, and when asked why he said, “If I dont use something at least once every two races, I throw it out….”
